Hi Tim and Merran, what a beautiful thing to enjoy God’s world(and your backyard) on this sabbatical year. Really terrific! I was only aware of your adventures yesterday when Helen Badenach sent me the link. You are looking wonderful, Tim . Merran, you look so light-hearted and peaceful. I so understand the eagle and the pelican symbolism. They, together with mourning doves mean a lot to me, also. The Pelican is a medieval symbol of Christ, as there was a myth about the pelican’s children striking the parent bird’s chest because they were dying of hunger and thirst, the blood coming from the pelican saved it’s children’s lives. Hence, Thomas Aquinus’ ‘Pie Pelicane’. I also have painted a picture of a pelican just breaking the water as it sails down to land with wingtip stretching to the sun, which recalls for me the truth of Philippians 2:5-11 and Hebrews 10:5-7.
The Eagle is also a picture of Christ…
