It is with deep joy and immense gratitude that Tim and I can report that we are back home in Sheffield, having completed our Island Traverse yesterday. We walked in to Cockle Creek, Friday 20 December, at 11 am on day 13, after 155km of mud, water, sand and surf, the last major section of our journey through Tasmania.
We had a wonderful reception from friends and family on our arrival, and after a couple of particularly delicious meals, drove back home through the evening, last night. We are now revisiting stories and photos, and will backfill our blog with details of our 5 days on the Port Davey Track, our arrival at the Southern Ocean, and Justin joining us on the final week to walk out the South Coast Track. These were all wonderful experiences, some of our most fascinating bushwalking to date, and completed the sense of pilgrimage through the Island.
Our writing over the next days will be intermingled with loads of washing, selecting some of our hundreds of photos and preparations for a special family gathering over Christmas.
Thanks to all who have journeyed with us, we appreciate your support and hope you enjoy reading up on the last 13 days as they appear.

Well done you two adventurers… it was great to follow your trail! An impressive achievement, and we look forward to reading the tale. Wishing you a wonderful and restful Christmas! Love Lynne (&Peter)
Brilliant!! What a wonderful thing you have done, and will remember forever … if not beyond . Our island is such a treasure, and seeing so much of its diverse and challenging terrain on foot is surely the best way to go. I can’t wait to hear and see more. Well done T & M! Much love Peter (& Lynne).
Fantastic effort, both, especially following the events of last year. A great achievement – congratulations!
