About our walk through Tasmania (Updated)

We are an ordinary Tasmanian couple from the North West in our late 50s who enjoy the mountains and bush.  Over the years, we have walked several long distance pilgrimages overseas.  The more we have travelled, the more we have come to appreciate the unique environment and ecology of the Island of Tasmania.  We decided a year ago to walk it North to South (nice and slow) ourselves as a Celtic style pilgrimage at the end of 2018.  This is a simple blog for family and friends who would like to follow along with our preparations, planning and then the journey itself.  You are welcome to join us and share our traverse of the island of Tasmania.  Feel free to comment on our blog page.  We may not be able to post everyday due to phone and internet reception however our satellite GPS feed should be active unless we run short on phone or GPS battery power.

We started as planned on 23 November 2018 but, as you will read if you followed the blog, things came to a sudden halt at the end of only our second day.  Tim suffered a cardiac arrest just as we completed the day.  He needed surgery and some recovery time.  We are now completing the walk in quite a different way – section by section as we are able to schedule it.  We will continue to blog as we go but the pilgrimage is a little different as is not our original plan of an uninterrupted north-south walk.
